What is the name of the Study?

An Evaluation of Dietary Intakes and Food Preparation Methods Pre and Post Pandemic among Grenadians: Petite Martinique, Carriacou, and Grenada


What is this study about?

This study aims to identify linkages between food choices, availability, accessibility, and consumption behaviour. Through the exploration of participant dietary choices linkages can be made with future rates of non-communicable diseases.


Who is carrying out the study?

The study will be conducted by the Principal Investigators Claudette Mitchell Phd., David Balfour Phd., Mrs. Lydia Browne Msc. and Prakash Ramdass MD. in association with the Grenada Food and Nutrition Council and the Ministry of Agriculture.


Who will benefit from the study?

The citizens of Grenada and its dependencies and by extension the Caribbean will benefit from the study, as data collected will inform policy decisions regarding food and nutrition security.


Who can participate?

Adults aged 18 and over in the Islands of Grenada, Carricou and Petite Martinique.


Has approval been given for this study?

Yes! This study has been approved by the St. George’s University, Internal Review Board.


Where will the study take place?

The study will take place throughout the islands of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martique


When will data collection begin?

Data collection is carded to begin on 15th April 2024


Will results be made public?

Yes, results will be made public. After data has been collected and the analysis has been completed, the findings will be published on the study’s website, Grenada Nutrition Research (caribbeannutritionresearch.com)

How will data be collected?

Data will be collected via two (2) modes:

1. Face-to-face Surveys

2. Electronic Surveys


Who will be collecting data?

Face-to-face data will be collected by several trained and experienced enumerators.


If I participate will my personal information be shared?

During the data collection process there will be No collection of personal identifiers (name, address, telephone number) that can link you to be information collected. When the raw data is collected, it will be coded and analysed as a data set. There will be no analysis of individual participant responses.
